For many Stuttgart spa enthusiasts, this news is »old hat« – the MineralBad Cannstatt is currently undergoing extensive reconstruction. The spa is set to reopen in April 2011 after roughly one year of construction work.

Significant dilapidation and corrosive damage, especially affecting the glass cupola construction, had forced the city to take action. But the reconstruction package also included extensive work in the indoor swimming pool area. In the 17 years since the spa first opened, rust had wreaked havoc on the entire substructure of the suspended ceiling, parts of the building equipment and other fixtures. The building’s ventilation system was also in need of a serious overhaul.

WEIS INDUSTRIES SERVICES® GmbH was in charge of modernizing the fire dampers. In ventilation systems, fire dampers prevent fires from spreading through buildings uncontrollably. For a public building such as the MineralBad with thousands of visitors per  year, this is an indispensable safety standard.

In addition, the WIS experts also conducted the mandatory annual safety inspection. Once the MineralBad reopens its doors, bathers will not only find a new self-supporting roof, an extended food court, and a modernized steam bath, but thanks to WIS, they will also be protected by a powerful safety system that is fully compliant with current standards.
